Connect to a Cisco IOS Device via Serial using a Mac Terminal

For all you Apple fans out there that may have a MacBook for your day to day engineer tasks and do a lot of work with Cisco here is how you can connect using the native terminal ap

 

Open Spotlight bt pressing CMD+Space  – type ‘Terminal’
In the terminal window list devices available by typing

We now need to connect the serial device we are concerned with and set the BAUD rate when doing so

Its as simple  as that, no need to spend ages hunting for something close to putty that works on a mac
